Many people have been emailing us and asking how “the twins” are doing. A number of visitors at The Nest witnessed their arrival at The Nest and their life story of not gaining weight for a long time. We want to show you how they look like today! They still get medication but have developed well over the past year. And they love each other more than you could imagine!

 Viele Anfragen erreichen uns um nach “den Zwillingen” zu fragen. Einige Besucher im Nest hatten ihre Ankunft im Nest miterlebt und ihre langsame Entwicklung verfolgt. Die  beiden sind immernoch unter medizinischer Behandlung aber sie entwickeln sich prcähtig. Ausserdem haben sie sich so lieb, wie man es sich nur vorstellen kann!

Vor kurzem haben wir etwas ganz Neues im Nest eingefuehrt! Eine Lob und Kritik Box fuer Kinder und Team im Nest! Geich in der ersten Wochen lagen bereits 16 kleine Zettelchen darin – anonym oder mit Namen! Die Kinder finden die Idee toll und malen oder schreiben ihre Kommentare auf kleine Zettelchen, die ihnen gerade unterkommen. Darauf steht dann, dass sie froh sind im Nest zu sein, dass sie mal gerne dies oder das essen wuerden, dass sie sich dies oder jenes Buch oder Spielzeug wuenschen oder wer sie geaergert hat… Einmal die Woche leeren Irene und team  die Box und versuchen jede Bemerkung ernst zu nehmen. So koennen wir jedem Kind eine Stimme geben!

We recently introduced a suggestion box at The Nest! Its called “sema” which means “speak out!” in Kiswahili language. The box is meant for children and staff at The Nest. Everyone can put a piece of paper with his or her suggestion, comment, complain or note in it- anonymously or with name. Every week The Nest’s management team including Irene will open the box and take the notes seriuosly. In our first week of introducing the box there were 16 notes in it! Some children thanked the team, others requested a certain food or drink, others wanted a book or toy, others blamed other children for misbehavior, other drew a picture because they are unable to write etc. We think its a good way of giving the kids a voice!
