This is Supu. “Supu” means “beautiful girl” in Sheng – a mix of English and Kiswahili language spreading in Nairobi and other parts of Kenya. Supu’s real name is Ruth. But since she has been at The Nest for a number of years now she’s been nicknamed (and loved) by the housemothers and kids. And Supu is not the only one with an inventive name! Supu heißt eigentlich Ruth, aber seit sie im Nest lebt haben ihr die Hausmütter und die anderen Kinder diesen liebevollen Kosenamen gegeben.
